About the Project
This youth-created project "Developing Youth Voices Against Racism and Discrimination "aims: To raise awareness and challenge public's anti-immigrant attitudes. To foster a sense of youths active citizenship based on EU values by empowering them to connect with the local TDs, decision-makers, youth workers, and international NGOs/Charities for a more inclusive society. To bring more youths across Ireland including those of migrant backgrounds to the Erasmus+ youth participation field and give them a voice. The need for this project arose from the fear this youth group felt during the Dublin riots with angry anti migrant protesters on November 23, 2023, which had 11 Garda vehicles damaged, the Holiday Hotel Express Dublin on Fire where asylum seekers was supposed to be, a Luas burned to ashes, 4 buses vandalised burned and 13 shops looted as reported by RTE News and EuroNews 2023 and the rise of anti-migrant sentiments in Ireland and across Europe.
