About the Project
This is a youth-led initiative developed from the needs identified by migrant young people. The first phase of the project (2023-1-IE01-KA154-YOU-000113813) received a 90% score from Léargas and successfully achieved its objectives.
The project addresses the needs of young people with fewer opportunities, including migrant and asylum-seeking youth aged 14–17 living in disadvantaged rural communities in Cork. It explores how negative media representation and stereotypes can affect young people's sense of identity, confidence, and inclusion. Survey responses showed that 97% of young people felt that negative media representation influences their perceptions and social inclusion. Through meetings with MEPs, politicians, NGOs, and youth organisations, the project aims to challenge stereotypes, promote positive representation, and support more inclusive policies in Ireland and Europe.
